Binghamton men’s cross country records second-place finish at America East Championship meet BOSTON, Mass.—The Binghamton men’s cross country team narrowly missed a spirited title defense from last year’s team victory with a second-place effort at the America East Championship meet Saturday at Franklin Park. The championship host, Boston University, won the men’s event with 45 points. Riley Masters, of the University of Maine, was the individual winner out of a field of 84 with a time of 24:04. The Bearcat men were led by sophomore Jeff Martinez, who bested last year’s 10th place individual performance with a fifth place effort in 24:41. Graduate student Chris Gaube was sixth overall with a time of 24:43. It marks the third year in a row he has finished in the top six or better. A trio of seniors, Adam Quinn (25:00), Casey Quaglia (25:06), and Andrew Ugolino (25:09) finished 12th, 15th and 16th, respectively. On the women’s side, sophomore Lindsay Raulli was the Bearcats top finisher with a time of 18:35. Classmate Rachel Miura finished close behind with an overall time of 18:37. With a team total of 24 points, Stony Brook won its fourth consecutive women’s team championship. The Bearcats notched a seventh-place mark with 183 points. Lucy Van Dalen, a senior from Stony Brook was the individual winner with a time of 16:48. Binghamton heads to the NCAA Northeast Regional in Madison, Conn. on Nov. 13.
